I love working with teenagers. They are full of new ideas and perspectives.
They are attempting to figure out the world during a time of physical,
emotional and mental transformation. They endure many changes in a short
period of time as they navigate through the inconsistencies,
unpredictabilities of their own lives and the lives of those around them.
Working with adolescents successfully requires that a mutual respect be
established so that they feel heard and will open up, but also so that they
will be willing to listen to suggestions, ideas and perspectives outside of
their own. It also requires an understanding of family systems as well as the
larger culture within which they exist.

Parenting is the most difficult, most rewarding of enterprises. One of the
challenges is to be certain that the methods we are using result in the
goals we are looking to accomplish with our children, as they continue to
change and develop. Add to this the obstacles we face in terms of the impact
of the larger social culture as well as our own issues (i.e. Our reactivity;
the buttons that get pushed!).
I can help you develop creative parenting
strategies to effect a positive change in your situation. I can provide an
educational component to our work that will guide you towards a more
informed decision making process. In a gentle, non blaming atmosphere, I can
also support you in taking care of yourself, in understanding your own
issues, as we understand that children learn from us in who and how we are,
not in just what we tell them.
