My goal is to provide a private, safe and judgment free environment where you can begin to explore
the issues that you are struggling with; a warm, compassionate and
supportive atmosphere to help you deal with the feelings that seem
unmanageable. I work to facilitate, guide and motivate the healing,
growth and change in your life that you are seeking.
My style is
interactive, education and integrative. I listen, but also provide feedback.
At times I may offer/recommend articles or books for further information or
exploration into a subject. Some issues call for listening, feedback and
support. On the other hand, there are times when a creative strategy or
solution focused approach is more appropriate, effective and helpful.
Issues I have experience working with include:
- Anxiety and Stress
- Sexual Abuse
- Depression
- Grief and Loss
- Bi-polar Disorder
- Self Injury
- Eating Disorders
- Life Transitions
- Relationship Issues / Couples Therapy
- Divorce
- Trauma (PTSD)
- Addictions
I am skilled at combining a variety of approaches to the therapeutic process
including:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Meditation
- Psychodynamic Therapy
- Knowledge/Training- Energy Psychology Techniques
- Coaching
I draw from a number of influences including:
- Relational and Attachment Theories
- Family Systems
- Spirituality (when requested/appropriate)
- Mindfulness
- Brain Research
Research on the effectiveness of therapy has continued to produce the same results; regardless of the therapist's training and background, it is the relationship that heals. Try to make as many contacts as necessary, meeting with as many therapists as possible until you feel you are sitting across from someone you can communicate with and until you are in an environment where you are comfortable. It may turn out to be someone on your insurance plan. If you find yourself comfortable and connected to a therapist outside the plan, consider making the investment. You are worth it.
